Huske Breaks TYR Pro Swim Record on Night Two of TYR Pro Swim Series Westmont

Night two of the TYR Pro Swim Series Westmont featured dominant performances from National Team athletes. Torri Huske (Arlington, Va./Arlington Aquatic Club) broke the TYR Pro Swim Series record in the 100m butterfly. Additionally, three female athletes – Leah Hayes (Sugar Grove, Ill./Fox Valley Park District Riptides), Katie Grimes (Las Vegas, Nev./Sandpipers of Nevada), and Claire Weinstein (White Plains, N.Y./Sandpipers of Nevada) – swam a tough double, completing both the 200m freestyle and 400m individual medley in just over one hour.
Women’s 200m Freestyle – FINAL
1 – Simone Manuel (Sugar Land, Texas/Sun Devil Swimming), 1:57.80
2 – Maria Fernanda de Oliveira (BRA), 1:57.81
3 – Claire Weinstein (White Plains, N.Y./Sandpipers of Nevada), 1:58.08
Manuel on her race: “(Going out fast) has been my strategy for the 200s. My best 200s are when I go out fast so that’s really what I wanted to do. I felt the pain at the end but I’m really happy with the end result.”
Men’s 200m Freestyle – FINAL
1 – Drew Kibler (Carmel, Ind./Sun Devil Swimming), 1:46.02
2 – Gabriel Jett (Clovis, Calif./California Aquatics), 1:47.16
3 – Kieran Smith (Lakeville, Minn./Sun Devil Swimming), 1:47.21
Kibler on his race: “It was an okay time, but I always want a little more. It’s better than it was a few months ago and we are working really hard right now. A good first swim of the meet and I’m going to try to keep getting better as we go.”
Women’s 100m Breaststroke – FINAL
1 – Lilly King (Evansville, Ind./Indiana Swim Club), 1:06.68
2 – Andrea Podmanikova (SVK), 1:08.89
3 – Theodora Taylor (CAN), 1:09.19
King on her win: “I was in Brazil on Sunday so this week could have been tapered, it could have been a dumpster fire, and we were somewhere in the middle. Pretty happy with that...It’s a pretty chill meet and I get to go home a day early so I’m just hanging out and getting some racing in.”
Men’s 100m Breaststroke – FINAL

Huske on her record: “I feel good, this past week leading up to this meet I felt really fast at practice. It’s really up and down right now and I just happen to be in a part of my training cycle where I feel really fast.”

1 – Caeleb Dressel (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Gator Swim Club), 51.27
2 – Dare Rose (Jersey City, N.J./California Aquatics), 51.77
3 – Zach Harting (Huntsville, Ala./Cardinal Aquatics), 52.04
Dressel on his training: “I feel good, it was quicker than I was at Open. We’re in a good spot. I never would have guessed I would have been that quick...I’m really happy with that. Excited moving forward - a little confidence boost there.”
Women’s 400m Individual Medley – FINAL
1 – Leah Hayes (Sugar Grove, Ill./Fox Valley Park District Riptides), 4:39.36
2 – Katie Grimes (Las Vegas, Nev./Sandpipers of Nevada), 4:40.98
3 – Bailey Andison (CAN), 4:46.69
Hayes on her tough double: “It was just so much fun swimming against Katie (Grimes). She’s just an amazing swimmer and I went to the race with a mindset of having fun and doing what I could. I’m really happy with my time.”
Men’s 400m Individual Medley – FINAL
1 – Chase Kalisz (Baltimore, Md./Sun Devil Swimming), 4:13.52
2 – David Johnston (Dallas, Texas/The Swim Team), 4:14.94
3 – Jay Litherland (Alpharetta, Ga./Sun Devil Swimming), 4:16.38
Competition continues through Saturday at the FMC Natatorium. Tomorrow’s action features the 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 100m butterfly, and 400m individual medley.
